Why should we make the effort to gather and discuss issues related to the separation of church and state?

The most important reason is that the forces that are eroding this wall move slowly, quietly, and avoid the media's radar.

From recent discussions and speeches about Islamo-Fascism by those who seek to destroy said separation to the varying myths of Christian origins of the United States' Constitution, the problems of this important separation of institutions are common and subtle.

Shaun McGonigal, the organizer, is a member of the Freethought Society of Greater Philadelphia (FSGP), the Deleware valley chapter of Americans United (DVAU), and has been active in church/state separation issues for more than 5 years now.

And while i am personally an atheist, I recognize that there are many Christians, Jews, etc who are also in support of this separation. Not only is separation good for our Republic, but it's also good for the houses of worship and for those who choose not to participate in worship.

In addition to that, you will find people who will share some opinions with you about some things, will not share other opinions with you, and the resulting conversation that ensues from this circumstance of different perspectives.

We welcome your input, your ears, or just your company. We'll look for you there.
